Intercity Program

Overview

The West Island Lakers Basketball Association offers a competitive basketball program for boys and girls ages 10‐18. WILBA competitive teams participate in the Montreal Basketball League and Ligue Féminine de basketball du Québec.   

Each competitive team practices twice per week and participates in league play as well as local and out of town tournaments over the course of the basketall season. Team selections are held in September and the season begins in October and runs through to May.   

A high level of commitment is expected from players selected to WILBA competitive teams. Players are expected to attend all practices, games and tournaments.   

WILBA will be fielding the following competitive teams for the 2011‐2012 basketball season:   

Girls

• Mini: born between Oct 1st 1999 and Dec 31st 2001
• Bantam: born between Oct 1st 1997 and Dec 31st 1999
• Midget: born between Oct 1st 1996 and Dec 31st 1997
• Juvenile: born between Oct 1st 1993 and Dec 31st 1996

Boys

• Mini: born in 2000 and 2001
• Bantam: born in 1998 and 1999
• Midget: born in 1996 and 1997
• Juvenile: born in 1994 and 1995

TRYOUTS 2011-12 FAQ

Players are invited to tryout in their respective age category. No players will be allowed to tryout for an older age category. To participate in tryouts you must be registered with WILBA and have paid the basic registration fees. If selected an additional “Intercity” fee will be charge.   

Can Anyone tryout?
Tryouts are open to anyone registered with WILBA. If you are not a registered member of WILBA, you will need to register online or at one of the OPEN Registration sessions held every season in September.   

What is the tryout process?
Every player is guaranteed two tryouts. Following the second tryout, some players will be released to House League. A third tryout will then take place, after which time the teams are announced. At this time there may also be some more players released to House League. All players are contacted by the coach and told of the outcome of their tryout.
