Intercity 2019 Awards Ceremony

On May 24th, the Lakers held their Intercity Awards ceremony for the first time at John Rennie High School, in the auditorium.  The Lakers invited long time Player, Coach and Director of Development, Mr. Jonathan Meritt to be the guest speaker.

 

We also celebrated with all the teams, the 3 (or 4) Awards winners for each category of teams.  Each team’s Coach came on stage and talked about the season, and awarded their players with their plaques.

 

As they do every year, the Lakers Intercity program awards the Alan Misner award to the top 2 players of the year.  This prestigious award has been sponsored for many years by Monster Gym West Island, and they did not disappoint.  The 2 top players won each a Monster gym tuque, gym bag, and a 1 year membership to Monster Gym.

 

At the end of the ceremony, the Lakers Technical Director, Mr. Mike Hickey spoke for a couple of minutes on the value of summer time, and developing each players game.

 

To close out the ceremony, the players had a special presentation on performing the new “WILBA CHEER”.
