A Laker player is one who enjoys the competitive aspects of basketball, looks for avenues to improve and is willing to be coached and taught how to play the game successfully. He/she is committed to playing the best of their ability at both ends of the court.

1. Selflessness – make the play that is best for your team. Understand team success is more important than individual accomplishments.

2. Communication – communicating in a positive, constructive manner with your coaches and your teammates is necessary. The best form of communication is face-to-face.

3. Accountability - we must be accountable for their actions. If you make a mistake or something goes wrong, own up to it. When your teammate makes a mistake encourage them in a positive manner to do better the next time.

4. Competitiveness - competitiveness is not about playing in or winning games, but rather the ability and desire to practice and play to your ability and to compete every day.

5. Confidence - confidence comes from practicing well and knowing that you are going to give your best effort. It is having trust that your teammates and coaches are going to do the same

6. Be Respectful – give and expect respect from your teammates, coaches, referees, and opponents.

7. Positive Attitude – a positive attitude about yourself and your teammates. There are going to be tough times in sport and in life, a successful person doesn’t allow problems or mistakes to affect them in a negative way but turns negative events and feelings into positive action.

8. Dependability – be a player that your coaches and teammates can count on to work hard and do the right things in good and bad times.
