Bill Wennington
Mr. Wennington was inducted in the West Island Lakers (WILBA) Hall of Fame in 2011.
He is the first Quebec basketball player to play in the NBA. Mr. Wennington has impressed many in his career!
• He made his debut in basketball with the West Island Lakers Basketball Association
• Member of Quebec’s Hopes 76 and 77
• NCAA Division 1 St. John’s University with whom he participated in the Final Four in 1984
• 1985 he began a career in the NBA with the Dallas Mavericks
• Member of the Canadian team where he defended the colors of Canada in the 1984 Olympic (Los Angeles) and 1992 (Barcelona)
• Member of the Chicago Bulls from 1993 to 1999, alongside the famous Michael Jordan with whom he won three NBA championships
• 2003 Inducted into Québec basketball Hall of Fame
• 2005 Inducted into Canadian Basketball Hall of Fame
• 2011 Inducted into Quebec Sports Hall of Fame
Mr. Wennington now works as a radio analyst for the Chicago Bulls. He also works with the organization to help integrate Bulls new players in their new life has “NBA star”.
A great athlete but also a great man. Mr. Wennington has opened the way for Quebec athletes who dream of a day to play in the NBA. “Be someone’s hero” is more than just a signature at the foot of his correspondence, Mr. Wennington has made it his motto!
